Statement Of Faith

SOLID ROCK BIBLE CHURCH
STATEMENT OF FAITH
PREFACE

We teach from the King James Version of the Bible, and believe that at the present time, it is the most consistently faithful English language translation of the Greek and Hebrew Scriptures.

We believe and teach;

SECTION 1: That the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, in the originals, is the inerrant and complete Word of God, and is our final authority in matters of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Jude 3.

SECTION 2: That there is one God, eternally manifesting Himself in Three Parts: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:21-22

SECTION 3: That the Lord Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is fully God and Fully man. Luke 1:30-35, John 1:18, John 3:16, Philippians 2:5-11

SECTION 4: That man was created in the image of God, that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death; and that, as a consequence, all mankind are declared by God to be totally depraved, having inherited a sinful nature and having become sinners in thought, word, and deed. Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:16-17, Romans 3:10-23, 6:23, 7:18, 11:32, Galatians 3:22.

SECTION 5: That the Lord Jesus Christ died as a substitutionary and complete sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, and that only those who believe in Him are saved, and this on the ground of His shed Blood and grace. Romans 3:24-28, Romans 5:8-10, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, 1 John 2:1-2.

SECTION 6: That the Lord Jesus Christ literally walked on the face of this earth, that He was crucified and arose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He was crucified; that He ascended into Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of the Father as the Head of the Church. John 20:1-29, Acts 1:9-11, Ephesians 1:20-23, Hebrews 1:3.

SECTION 7: That the Lord Jesus Christ will come again personally and bodily; that first, He will come in the air prior to the seven year Tribulation to receive the Church (His Body, His Bride) to Himself into Heaven. Following this, will be the literal fulfillment of the Great Tribulation foretold by the prophets of God. At the close of the Tribulation of seven years, Christ will return visibly to the earth with His saints (the Bride) to inaugurate His Millennial Kingdom. Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:51-58, 2 Peter 3:1-13, Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:1-6.

SECTION 8: That the Lord Jesus Christ ordained two ordinances that should be observed: baptism by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper: That baptism is an act of obedience which does not of itself save anyone, since repentance and faith in Christ are prerequisites to baptism: That the Lord’s Supper is memorial service designed to bring a Christian into deeper fellowship with Christ, and does not save. 1 Corinthians 11:23-24, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-10.

SECTION 9: That the Lord Jesus Christ completely and eternally saves and secures each individual who places his trust in Jesus Christ. No mortal, or anyone, including Satan himself, can take a Believer’s salvation away from him. John 10:28-29, 1 Peter 1:5, Romans 8:35-39.

SECTION 10: That the Great Commission was given to the Church along with various ministries, and gifts: That it becomes the duty of every believer in Christ to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to accomplish this Commission: That the Great Commission is the personal duty and obligation and purpose of every Christian in this life. John 15:1-6, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:9-11, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, Ephesians 4:7-16.
