What Distinguished The Truly Godly Person’s
desires from those of A Merely Religious Man ?


 

1. THE DESIRE OF THE GODLY SOUL.    V.1.
*COMPARED TO A DEER SEEKING LIVING (RUNNING) WATERS.

THESE ARE CONSCIOUS, INTENSE,
AND ACTIVE DESIRES !

A. FOR GOD.
THE LOST—BY THEMSELVES—DO NOT SEEK GOD. PS. 14:2,
PS. 53:2.
THE HUMBLE—WHO SUBMIT TO GOD’S WORKING IN THEM—
THEY SEEK GOD. PS. 69:32.
BUT, IT IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD WHO DRAWS THEM FIRST, AND
THEY SIMPLY RESPOND HUMBLY TO HIM. JOHN 6:44,
I JOHN 4:19.
B. FOR THE TRUE GOD, THE LIVING GOD.
THERE ARE MANY GODS. EX. 15:11, EX. 18:11, EX. 20:3.
OUR GOD IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD. I JOHN 5:20, JER. 10:10.

C. FOR FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. (DEPENDS ON ACTIONS)
DEPENDS UPON OUR WALKING WITH HIM. PS. 56:13

YOU DO NOT FIND ALL THESE IN A LOST SOUL !
A. TEARS OVER OUR OWN SINS. LUKE 7:38,44, 2 COR. 7:10.

B. TEARS OVER THE REBELLION IN THIS WORLD. JER. 9:1.
